A Message To District 25
On January 23, 2026, I officially qualified as a Republican candidate for Alabama Senate District 25. At that time, Senate Districts 25 and 26 had recently been redrawn by a federal court, creating significant uncertainty surrounding the future of these districts and their representation.
When I entered this race, I understood there was always a possibility that the district lines could ultimately revert back to the previous 2021 Senate map. On Thursday, May 28, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in favor of the State of Alabama and granted the Secretary of State’s request to stay the District Court’s injunction regarding the map, resulting in that very reversal.
From the beginning of this campaign, I have been clear about one thing: Senate District 25 has a strong current representative in Senator Will Barfoot. In fact, I spoke with Senator Barfoot the very day I qualified to run. My message to him was clear then, and it remains true today. If the district lines were restored to the map under which he currently serves, I would not seek to run against him and would instead end my campaign. I gave him my word, and I intend to keep it. I continue to believe Senator Barfoot has served our community well, and I fully support his continued leadership of this district.
On Friday, May 29, 2026, Governor Kay Ivey issued a proclamation calling for a primary election to be held on August 11, 2026, to determine the respective candidates for Senate Districts 25 and 26. As a result, I will not be qualifying to run in this race.
My reason for entering this campaign was never about politics or unseating an incumbent. I stepped forward because the redrawn district lines created uncertainty, and I believed our community deserved a strong voice committed to conservative values, integrity, and servant leadership. I wanted to ensure the people of this district had someone willing to stand up and serve during a pivotal moment.
It has been a tremendous honor to serve as your Republican candidate over these past several months. Through this journey, I have gained an even deeper appreciation for the values, beliefs, and goals of the wonderful people throughout Montgomery and Crenshaw Counties. I look forward to continuing to build those relationships and remain engaged in the betterment of our communities moving forward.
To my supporters, friends, and family: thank you. Alyssa and I have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of encouragement, prayers, and support we have received throughout this campaign. We have heard your concerns for Alabama, your hopes for the future, and your desire to see strong leadership continue in our communities.
Although I will not be your candidate in this election, my commitment to fighting for the people of this area does not end here. The betterment of our state—and especially the Montgomery area—will remain deeply important to me. I will continue serving this community as an advocate in the courtroom, as a volunteer firefighter, and as someone willing to listen and work alongside others to make our communities safer and stronger.
There are many people who made a lasting impact on this campaign, but one person I especially want to recognize is my campaign director, Hunter Weathers. From the moment I first considered running, Hunter has been one of my strongest supporters and most trusted advisors. His political insight, wisdom, and work ethic far exceed his years, and I have no doubt he has a bright future ahead. Alabama is fortunate to have young leaders like him who care deeply about the values and principles that continue to make our state strong.
Most importantly, I want to thank my family. My wife, Alyssa, has stood beside me from the very beginning of this journey. From the moment I first shared the idea of running, she never hesitated to encourage, support, and pray over every decision along the way. My children have shown patience and love through the long days and evenings spent on the campaign trail, and they remain my greatest source of motivation each day. Everything I strive to do is rooted in my desire to help build a stronger future for them and for the families across this state.
Throughout this campaign, my faith has also grown tremendously. I know without question that God’s guidance carried us through every step of this journey. His wisdom, peace, and direction sustained me through every decision, and I remain grateful for His presence in our lives.
While this chapter may be coming to a close, the work itself is far from over. Alabama still faces important challenges and opportunities in the years ahead, and I remain committed to supporting leaders who are focused on moving our state forward with integrity and common sense. I encourage everyone to stay engaged, stay informed, and continue participating in every election ahead.
As for Senate District 25, I wholeheartedly support Senator Will Barfoot and his continued leadership of this district, and I encourage others to do the same.
Thank you again for your prayers, your support, and the trust you placed in me throughout this campaign. It has truly been an honor.
